Welcome to Pikes Peak Permaculture! This year, we are celebrating our 11th anniversity of offering Permaculture education and inspiration throughout the Colorado Pikes Peak Region. We have taught two Design Certification Courses (graduating approximately three dozen new Permaculture designers) as well as organized, designed and participated in on-the-ground Permaculture projects in Fountain, Colorado Springs, Falcon, Monument, Woodland Park and many other places demonstrating the ethics and principles of authentic sustainability and resilience (the resilience of natural systems) which Permaculture embodies.
David Holmgren, the co-originator of Permaculture talking about the power of Permaculture, the future of the earth and the role of cities in the future.
In 2008, Transition Town Manitou Springs was formed as a sister organization to Pikes Peak Permaculture, offering a model of education, grass roots citizen organization and a vision of authentic sustainability by helping to move local communities off of their cultural dependency on the fossil fuel infrastructure and re-localizing essential resources (food, energy, transportation, economy, currency…etc). Transition Towns are Permaculture Design Ethics and Principles applied to whole communities in response to current and accelerating challenges facing our global and local environment (peaking energy supplies, global climate disruption, economic instabilities)!
Please check back regularly as we are re-building our website and our organization to be a powerful and practical resource for our community in these changing and uncertain times.
