Cob Workshop
August 4 @ 6:00 pm - August 6 @ 5:00 pm
$125
Cob is a building technique with low barriers to entry. The process involves mixing a combination of clay, sand and straw to make ‘cobs’ that are then molded together to make a structure. Earth has been utilized for thousands of years to build homes that still stand today. This building method is labor intensive, fluid, sculptural and highly rewarding! In this workshop we will be building a bench at a private residence in Colorado Springs. Workshop includes instruction, lunch Saturday and Sunday, and is guaranteed to be a riot as we get muddy in the playful process of building something beautiful.
This is a kid friendly activity, bring them along.
Fee for this workshop (covers instruction and food for the weekend) is $125 — If you wish to participate but the fee would cause hardship please fill out our financial aid form. We have limited funding but we are able to help with 30% of this workshop fee. https://www.pikespeakpermaculture.org/financial-need-application/
We will be meeting Friday, August 4th from 6-9 pm for introductions and preliminary instruction. Saturday, August 5th and 6th are full days beginning at 9 am. This workshop must fill to a minimum of 13 people in order to take place. If you have someone in mind that you think would benefit please invite them to participate. An email with all the details for the location and what to expect for the weekend will be sent once we have confirmed enough registrations to hold the workshop.
