SEED the Untold Story

SYNOPSIS – Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. SEED features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.

SEED is Executive Produced by Academy Award Winning Actress Marisa Tomei, Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine) and Phil Fairclough (Grizzly Man, Cave of Forgotten Dreams).

“Seed is not just the source of life. It is the very foundation of our being.”

– Vandana Shiva

We concentrate on varieties that are adapted to semi-arid and arid regions. We are certified organic by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

High Altitude Gardens has been our resource since 1984 for thousands of extreme gardeners looking for exceptional flavor and trusted reliability in the coldest climates and shortest seasons. We carry the tried and true varieties we have grown to love and rely on, season after season.

Amkha Seed is an independently owned and operated seed company located in Westminster, Colorado. We’re horticulturalists and growers obsessed with crop improvement and genetic preservation. By developing new low-input varieties, encouraging agricultural awareness, and promoting sustainable methods we hope to make a difference. We like to think of ourselves as mavericks. While we exceed industry standards, diligently adhere to restrictions and regulations, and embrace traditional proven methods, we’ve distanced ourselves from many of the industry’s dated and limiting norms. We specialize in underutilized and underappreciated food and utility crops originating from all over the world, or forgotten domestically. We also offer a wide range of open-pollinated and heirloom varieties specifically selected for their value in terms of adaptability, pest resistance, overall utility, yield, as well as other desirable and sustainable traits.
